How to register for UMD courses while you're gone
One Stop Student Services will notify you of your personal registration time. In most cases, you'll register for classes for the following term while you're still abroad.
Your personal registration time will be calculated using both completed and in-progress credits. Watch for an email from One Stop with registration details prior to UMD registration times. For questions, contact One Stop Student Services.
Online Courses at UMD
While it is possible to take an online course at UMD while studying abroad, it is not recommended for a few reasons. First, you would be responsible for paying UMD tuition for those credits, along with the college fee and student services, in addition to the education abroad program costs. It's also important to consider the intensity of your program and whether the course format is compatible with your schedule abroad, especially if there is a significant time difference between Duluth and your host country.
Have a hold on your student account?
UMD Education Abroad staff cannot remove student holds. A hold on your student account will prevent you from registering at UMD. You are responsible for clearing holds on your account, even when you are abroad. Use MyU to identify if you have any holds. If you do, find out how to resolve them and whom to contact if you have questions.
